About

My name is Lenore Zainab

I have always been passionate about activism, so creating this platform has been a dream come true. I founded it in 2022, bringing together over 30 women to share their voices on various human rights movements. Today, I continue to raise awareness and advocate for change through my platform’s Instagram page.

Why "Skin-Coloured Crayons"?

To me, "skin-coloured crayons" symbolize the lack of representation for people of colour in our world. Growing up as a brown woman, I understood "skin-coloured" to mean "peach." At the time, I didn’t realize that this so-called "skin colour" didn’t match my own. In fact, until 1962, Crayola called the colour peach "flesh"—a label that implied a single standard for skin tone. While they have since changed the name, the notion that one colour could represent all skin tones reveals the deeper issue of exclusion.

About My Cause

Intersectional Feminism

Intersectional feminism acknowledges the multiple layers of discrimination an individual can face—whether based on race, religion, sexual orientation, gender, ethnicity, or more. I created "Skin-Coloured Crayons" as a platform to challenge the inequalities within "White Feminism" and amplify diverse voices in the fight for true equality.

My Goals

Education

Education is the foundation of my movement. I want to teach people worldwide—especially younger generations—about the importance of intersectional feminism and inclusion. As part of this initiative, I will continue giving school presentations about my platform and its mission. I also hope to donate truly diverse skin-coloured crayons, inspiring students to embrace inclusivity through creativity

Empowerment

Empowerment is the next step in my project. I aim to inspire confidence and encourage people to take the first step toward achieving their goals. To do this, I want to provide a diverse group of individuals with a platform to pursue and showcase their artistic talents.

Equality

Equality and equity are the ultimate goals of every human rights movement. Real change happens when we stand together. YOU can be a part of this project—because our goal is the same. Our goal is inclusion. Our goal is representation. Our goal is equal rights. Our goal is equal opportunity. Our goal is a more just and peaceful world.
